EDITORIAL REPORT: MECHANISMS OF TESTOSTERONE AND THE ANABOLIC EFFECTS ON MUSCLE
Multiple studies have illustrated that testosterone produces muscle hypertrophy by enhancing fractional muscle protein synthesis. The molecular basis of this anabolic effect however, is debatable. Urban et al. have suggested that testosterone arouses the expression of IGF-I and downregulates IGF binding protein-4 in the muscle. Reciprocal deviations in IGF-I and its binding protein thus offer a potential mechanism for intensifying the anabolic signal. It is unclear whether the anabolic effect of supraphysiologic quantities of testosterone are facilitated through an androgenreceptor-mediated mechanism. In vitro binding studies, Saartok et al. suggested that the androgen receptors in almost all tissues are either saturated or downregulated at testosterone concentrations that are at the lower end of the normal male range. Thus, it is possible that the supraphysiologic amounts of androgen produce muscle hypertrophy through androgen- receptor-independent mechanisms, such as via an antiglucocorticoid effect. Androgenic steroids, however, possess a very low affnity for binding to glucocorticoid receptor. Therefore, androgen modulation of glucocorticoid function via a post-receptor mechanism or by regulation of glucocorticoid-mediated gene expression has been assumed. The effects of androgen and their potential to be carried out via non-classical binding sites cannot be overlooked. The consequences of testosterone on the muscle are controlled by a number of various influences such as the genetic makeup, the status of growth hormone secretory, diet, exercise, cytokines, thyroid hormones, and glucocorticoids. Testosterone may also influence muscle function by its effects on neuromuscular transmission. It is also probable that athletes using supraphysiologic quantities of testosterone may train harder due to the alleged behavioral effects of testosterone; this could incidentally stimulate muscle hypertrophy.
The structure–activity relationships of androgenic steroids are not well understood. Until recently, it remained unclear whether the myotropic activity of androgens could be detached from their androgenic activity. Receptor binding studies in the rat seminal vesicle have insinuated that the changes in the effects of nandrolone, an androgenic steroid declared to be more anabolic than androgenic in its actions, and testosterone, the prototypical androgen, may potentially be related to the fact that 5-a-reductase increases the affinity of testosterone, but reduces the affnity of nandrolone for the androgen receptor. 5-a-reductase is an enzyme involved in steroid metabolism that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), an androgen with a greater affinity for androgen receptors, in the cytoplasm. Thus, in relation to testosterone, nandrolone may potentially have a greater proportional effect in the tissues with low 5-a-reductase activity such as the muscle, in comparison with tissues with high 5-a-reductase activity like the prostate. >>
Cyclo TestTM acts synergistically with any bulking regimen to generate an ergogenic environment that significantly enhances free testosterone and Human Growth Hormone levels. By combining unique components that work together to amplify the growth factor while simultaneously regulating estrogen levels, Cyclo TestTM has been specifically designed to increase your anabolic potential and help promote strength gains.
Cyclo Test integrates the unique ingredient 3,4-Divanillyltetrahydrofuran, an extract from Urtica Diodica, or more commonly referred to as stinging nettle. 3,4-Divanillyltetrahydrofuran works by attaching to the sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG). Sex hormone-binding globulin regulate the amount of biologically active hormones in the body mainly by binding to sex hormones. When 3,4-Divanillyltetrahydrofuran attaches to SHBG, it becomes inactive so it is incapable of binding to sex hormones. In theory, this allows free testosterone and estradiol to rise, thus promoting higher levels of testosterone and muscle growth. 3,4-Divanillyltetrahydrofuran, in combination with the testosterone-enhancing effects of Eurycoma Longifolia Jack, provides the perfect environment for optimal strength gains and lean muscle development. Bioperine® is also incorporated into this stack to enhance the bioavailability of these components via increased absorption rates.
Growth Factor Amplification
Velvet Bean Extract is derived from specific legumes known as Mucuna Pruriens. L-Dopa is a neurotransmitter that can be found in high amounts in velvet bean extract. L-Dopa is an amino acid that converts to dopamine, which is vital for brain function and the maintenance of various systems of the body. L-Dopa enhances the natural production of growth hormone, as well as other hormones circulating in the body. While the health benefits of L-Dopa have been researched for many years, its availability from Mucuna Pruriens has only recently been revealed. It introduces a natural source of L-Dopa, thus it is biocompatible with the body and more readily absorbed. Cyclo TestTM scientifically combines velvet bean extract with the thermogenesis-stimulating effects of Coleus Forskohlii and Chelated Magnesium to ensure optimal absorption and enhance hormonal levels.*
Cyclo TestTM is specifically devised to stimulate the production of testosterone and other anabolic hormones, while simultaneously minimizing the impact of estrogen on the body. The metabolism of estrogen occurs via one of two pathways: the [destructive] metabolic pathway (16 alpha-hydroxylation) or the [favorable] metabolic pathway (2-hydroxylation). Indole- 3-Carbinol has been suggested to shift the production of estrogen metabolites away from the destructive 16-hydroxy towards the more beneficial 2-hydroxy metabolites. Indole-3-carbinol is converted by stomach acid to diindolymethane (DIM) and indole (3,2,b) carbazole (ICZ). DIM yields more [beneficial] estrogen metabolites, which compete with testosterone for protein binding, thus helping to maintain higher levels of free testosterone. Indole-3-carbinol, in combination with the hormone-balancing effects of other various ingredients such as D-Calcium Glucarate help to promote the detoxification of excess estrogen circulating in the body, which ultimately promotes increased levels of testosterone.*
Cyclo Test™ is the ideal supplement for athletes looking to support their anabolic potential. Combining advanced, testosterone-supporting ingredients such as Eurycoma Longifolia Jack and Velvet Bean Extract, Cyclo Test™ acts synergistically with any bulking regimen to generate a superlative environment to assist with free testosterone levels.*

Vegan Diets Haven’t Always Been Easy For Athletes
In the past, it wasn’t always an easy choice to live a vegan lifestyle if you’re goals were to be a serious athlete, let alone if you wanted to build muscle mass. It was hard enough to get abundant protein through diet alone, but almost all supplemental protein sources of the past haven’t been vegan-friendly.
A New Generation Of Plant Protein Without Sacrifice
Over a year full of vigorous research and development in cold-extrusion technologies has resulted in an unmatched, vegan-approved protein formula from SAN. Not only is RAWFUSION non-GMO, organic and allergen-free, it also offers an incredible 21 grams of custom bio-fermented protein per serving—in a vegan formula.
RAWFUSION’s exclusive mix of pea protein isolate, sprouted brown rice and artichoke protein concentrate, and EFA-rich sunflower oil matrix have created a patent-pending formula that is ideal for vegans, and is a sensible choice for non-vegans as well. In fact, with over 4.5 grams of BCAAs per serving, RAWFUSION’s amino acid profile rivals that of milk protein.
RAWFUSION is an unequaled vegan protein formula for anyone seeking an ultra-healthy lifestyle and unwilling to make sacrifices.
Add one scoop to 8-10 oz. of cold water or your favorite beverage in a shaker cup or blender and mix for about 10 seconds. RAWFUSION also works great for baking (for added protein), with oatmeal and/or with fruit juices.

It's your nutritional insurance.
When it comes to nutrition, it all starts here with Animal Pak. It's your nutritional foundation. It's your nutritional insurance. Start with the Pak as your basic starter supplement and add the other Animal products around it.
Since August 8, 1983, Animal Pak has been helping competitive bodybuilders get the most out of their freakish training routines by providing all the nutrition they need, plus some they didn't know they needed. For 25 straight years, people like you have made Animal Pak the #1 selling training "pack" in the world. In fact, more competitive bodybuilders have cut their teeth on the Animal Pak than any other bodybuilding supplement in history. Why? Simple. Animal Pak gets the job done. It works. First time. Every time. Animal Pak has stood the test of time.
See, nature, in all her ingenuity, has designed the human body as the ultimate training machine. Since the dawn of mankind, our bodies have changed very little. And when it comes to growing our muscles in a freakish way, we still need the right combination and mega-doses of essential amino acids, carbs, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Only Animal Pak has everything you need.
OK, so you think your regular multi is going to cut it? Get real, Jack. You want massive size and mega-strength and only Animal Pak can deliver. Each Animal Pak starts with mega-doses of necessary vitamins and minerals. Yeah, vitamins and minerals. Vitamins (organic) and minerals (inorganic) are pharmacological agents and catalysts. They can exert significant ergogenic/anabolic benefits and function as the spark plugs for activating all the necessary chemical reactions which make training and building muscle possible.
If you're training or dieting hard for a contest, the first thing that happens when you don't take the Animal Pak is that nutritional gaps begin to form. Why should you care? Because over time, these deficiencies continue to grow. Eventually, your body will stop functioning at its optimum level. In other words, you hit the wall, your development reaches a plateau. In fact, even if only one key nutrient is missing from your diet, your body could shut down the anabolic drive needed to build muscle so that it can support more critical metabolic processes. When this happens, you stop growing.
Research has proven that strength athletes such as bodybuilders and powerlifters, due to the intensity and frequency of their training programs, have higher nutritional requirements than regular athletes. Studies have shown that these unique needs are greatly increased for bodybuilders who regularly compete and need to diet down. During calorie-restricted diets (diets which tend to be repetitive and monotonous, e.g., rice and chicken), the potential for nutritional deficiencies increase dramatically.
More alarming is the fact that championship-caliber bodybuilders, even when supplementing with a regular multivitamin, were still experiencing significant nutritional deficiencies. A basic multivitamin supplement won't be enough. Competitive bodybuilders know that a superior multivitamin is the first line of defense. This fact is confirmed by studies which have revealed that 100% of Olympic weightlifters and over 90% of competitive male and female bodybuilders use a vitamin/mineral supplement like Animal Pak.
These nutritional gaps not only affect your performance and size, but they begin to impact the way your other supplements work. For many of today's supplements to work efficiently, your body needs to be running on all cylinders. Nutritional gaps mean that your supplements may be rendered ineffective. For example, many supplements (e.g., prohormones) rely on enzymes and other substances in your body to "activate" them. Poor nutrition means poor conversion and activation of expensive supplements. Animal Pak is your insurance policy to prevent this from happening.
One other reason to take Animal Pak daily: drug-induced nutrient depletion. Pharmaceutical drug use can lead to vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Relying on "science” or “gear” to get you huge can obviously exacerbate this problem. Even common pharmaceuticals and OTC's such as aspirin, ibuprofen, antidepressants, and cholesterol-lowering drugs can deplete your body of folic acid, iron, potassium, and important vitamins. If you use drugs of any kind, this is another reason to supplement with Animal Pak.
With Animal Pak, you get plenty of everything you need. And a few extras. Animal Pak features performance optimizers such as pyridoxine alpha-ketoglutarate (PAK), carnitine, lipotropics, L-arginine, alpha lipoic acid, eleuthero, and the like. In every pack, you get a vast arsenal of over 60 key ingredients that are delivered in the right amounts at the right time, every time. Each of the 11 tablets included in each pak has been specifically formulated to deliver the goods.
Consider the Animal Pak as the cast iron skillet of your supplement program, your body's first line of defense. If you train with weights, then you absolutely need to train with the Animal Pak. Remember, while most supplements have come and gone, precious few have stood the test of time. When you're ready for the best, step up to the most trusted name in serious bodybuilding nutrition: Animal Pak. What IFBB pros and Mr. Olympia competitors have used since '83.
• All competitive strength & power athletes
• High-intensity training
• Athletes who use supplements
• Athletes who want maximum performance
1 pack per day during the off-season for maintenance, 2 packs during a pre-contest diet or when training is unusually intense.
As the "foundational" supplement, Animal Pak should be a part of every bodybuilder's regimen. Every Animal supplement has been designed to work together, creating a unique, powerful, and comprehensive nutritional system. Animal Pak is your starting point.
