SHIRLEY WORSFOLD

MISS FIGURE NT & MISS FIGURE INTERNATIONAL

PLACE OF BIRTH: Born in Montreal, Canada. Lived in the UK for most of my life and immigrated to Australia in 2010.

HEIGHT: 164.5cm

CONTEST WEIGHT: 50kg

OFF SEASON WEIGHT: 52 – 55kg

FAVOURITE BODY PART TO TRAIN?

Has to be shoulders – love that burn and the pump!

TOP 3 FAVOURITE EXERCISES:

Lateral side raises, Arnie presses, Pull ups

WHAT IS YOUR ULTIMATE CHEAT MEAL?

Cheat Meals! I don’t really have too many. My body has become accustomed to eating really clean, so if I do indulge my body often rejects it, making me feel quite bloated and sick! However, dark chocolate and a few nuts don’t go a miss!!

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE TO TRAIN TO?

Anything that’s on in the gym!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO WHEN YOU ARE NOT TRAINING?

I enjoy going to the movies, relaxing at home and going for walks.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TRAINING FOR?

Started training as a gymnast at the age of 5 – so pretty much since then. Gymnastics turned into Hockey at university and then I became that runner – you know the one that runs and runs and runs!! Several marathons later I decided it was time to change the way I looked. I have been weight training for the past ten years but in the last three have focused specifically on gaining lean muscle.

WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED?

Always striving to be the best I can be. If I have set myself a goal, then I remain focused until its achieved.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WANTING TO COMPETE?

Just to realize that the journey itself is often greater than the event. Stay focused, don’t listen to the doubters and only ever compare yourself to your starting point and not to others.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

For 2016, it will be to compete in the Victoria titles and Nationals in Sydney. Beyond that, I am going to leave it to the universe to help me decide!
