Yerba Mate is native to South America and the official drink of Argentina, primarily known for weight loss assistance and cancer prevention. Widely used by the indigenous Guarani people for hundreds of years as an invigorating beverage, today Mate is consumed by hundreds of people worldwide, on a daily basis, to ensure health and vitality.
It contains caffeine, but provides a clear, focused energy that some prefer to coffee or tea. It's also used to treat headaches, relieve fatigue, as a nerve tonic, stimulant, diuretic, laxative, astringent, rejuvenator, aperient and purgative.
Common medicinal uses include: improves concentration and memory, improves motor response, boosts metabolism, fights fatigue, combats obesity, stimulates adrenal glands.
Like a fine wine, the ageing process allows the Maté to slowly mature creating a more mellow brew. Aging softens the flavour and affects the colour, the longer the yerba is aged the less bitter is becomes.
